How the MIDI Note Frequency Table Works
Display individual piano keys frequencies (C0–C8) and play tones on an interactive keyboard.
This interactive calculator outputs standard frequency values on a pitch spectrum. Standard acoustic tuning assumes a base scale pitch of A4 = 440Hz. Use the details pane to inspect:
- Note Registers (C0 to C8): C0 is the lowest standard frequency (16.35Hz), C8 is the high pitch peak (4186.01Hz).
- MIDI ID Value: Integers ranging from 12 to 108 representing notes on an 88-key keyboard.
- Wavelength: Calculated as sound speed through air (343m/s) divided by the note frequency. Low bass notes have massive wave structures (e.g. C0 is 20 meters), while high frequencies are tiny (millimeter sizes).
